Northwell Health is seeking a full-time fellowship-trained academic Acute Care Surgeon BE/BC in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care to join the faculty at our North Shore University Hospital (NSUH) campus in Manhasset, NY. This is an excellent opportunity to work as a Clinician Educator in a high acuity academic environment with a very supportive and experienced team.
The qualified candidate will join a team of ten other acute care surgical attendings in North Shore University Hospital’s (NSUH) Division of Acute Care Surgery (ACS). Surgeons will rotate through the Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU), Trauma, and Emergency General Surgery services. NSUH is the oldest American College of Surgeons verified Level One Trauma Center in the New York City area. The NSUH ACS group performs approximately 1,000 operative procedures annually and manages 1,300 annual admissions to the SICU. The long-standing surgical residency graduates eight highly sought after chief residents. Northwell Health’s SkyHealth is a state-of-the-art emergency helicopter service that greatly reduces the time a critically ill or injured patient spends outside of the acute care environment and has a designated rooftop helipad located at NSUH. NSUH’s newest completed building is a $325M state of the art surgical and critical care pavilion. The pavilion features 18 operating rooms, including three hybrid operating suites with advanced imaging and 88 intensive care unit beds.
