Visiting Scholar
The Department of Surgery, at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine seeks a Visiting Scholar to work in the laboratory of Drs Katherine Reitz and Timothy Billiar. This is an exciting opportunity for a research scholar who is highly self-motivated.
Job Description: The successful applicant will be responsible for conducting high-quality clinical research investigating and working to improve surgical outcomes. The applicant will monitor regulatory procedures for ongoing work, coordinate with other members of the team, and lead their own lines of investigation.
The Visiting Scholar will be responsible for designing and carrying out data cleaning, statistical analysis plans, record keeping, writing manuscripts, and preparing them for publication and presentation of findings at scientific meetings under the supervision of the PI. The investigative tools include statistical and graphic generating software packages as well as RedCap.
Requirements: Candidates should possess an MD and/or Ph.D. in epidemiology, statistics, or a related field. We are looking for an individual who is also team-oriented and possesses excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills. They should have the ability to work collaboratively and be interested in working with individuals from many different backgrounds including basic scientists and clinicians. Candidates should also have effective communication and interpersonal skills.
