Description
Position SummaryThe Fetal Center at Riley Children's and Indiana University Health is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral fellow to join their research team to participate and initiate basic, translational, and clinical studies in the field of fetal medicine and therapy.
The fellow will be under the direct supervision of Dr. Hiba J. Mustafa
General Responsibilities:
- The ideal candidate will have experience with human subject studies and a strong desire to gain additional basic and translational research skills.
- Coordinating studies involving human participants;
- Processing and analyzing biological samples;
- Data management including handling large data sets and performing statistical analysis;
- Communicating results through preparation of presentations (i.e., tables & figures), and writing reports and manuscripts; and
- Collaborating effectively with members of the research team.
- Able to work independently on assigned projects and contribute to the preparation of manuscripts and grant proposals.
- Present on-site at the Maternal Fetal Medicine ( MFM ) Research Office at least three day per week. Additional in-person time may be required for participant recruitment and study coordination when participants are available.
- Attend relevant conferences to stay current with advances in the field. Two mandatory in-person meetings include the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine ( SMFM ) Annual Meeting and the North American Fetal Therapy Network ( NAFTNET ) Fall meeting.
Skills:
- Proficiency in statistical analysis and experience using statistical software such as SAS , STATA , or R.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Strong organizational abilities, creativity, attention to detail, enthusiasm for mentoring, and intellectual curiosity.
- Ability to manage time effectively, meet deadlines, and plan project activities collaboratively within a team environment.
- Commitment to professionalism, scientific rigor, and the reproducibility of research.
Program Leadership:
The program is directed by Dr. Hiba J. Mustafa who is amaternal-fetal medicine specialist who is further subspecialized in Fetal Diagnosis and Therapy.
She is currently the Director of the Fetal Surgery program and the clinical lead of the Placenta Accreta Spectrum Program at Indiana University and Riley Children's Hospital.

Basic Qualifications
Doctoral degrees in biomedical sciences (Ph.D., M.D., or M.D./Ph.D.) are required.
