The Department of Cardiovascular Surgery at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in Florida, in partnership with Johns Hopkins School of Medicine seeks a nationally recognized clinical and academic leader to serve as Chief of Cardiovascular Surgery and a Director of the Heart Institute. JHACH is undergoing an exciting phase of clinical and academic transformation, presenting a unique opportunity for the incoming Chief to lead innovation in research, education, and clinical care. This individual will also mentor faculty, recruit top-tier clinicians and researchers, and cultivate interdisciplinary collaboration across the Heart Institute.
Position Highlights:
- Proven mastery of advanced pediatric cardiovascular surgical techniques, including high-risk and complex congenital heart surgeries across all STAT categories. Deep understanding of perioperative and postoperative management.
- Collaborate with cardiologists, intensivists, anesthesiologists, and other multidisciplinary stakeholders.
- Ability to integrate diagnostic imaging, cardiology data, and intraoperative findings into evidence-based, patient-centered care plans.
- Committed to excellence in clinical outcomes, patient safety and quality improvement.
- An inspiring leader with strategic vision, demonstrated leadership with multidisciplinary teams, and champion of both clinical and academic missions.
- Experience overseeing program development, clinical operations, budget management and resource allocation.
- Skilled in data-driven decision making and ability to lead and manage within a matrixed academic health system.
- Robust portfolio of peer-reviewed publications, sponsored research, and invited presentations.
- Foster research, support junior investigators, and collaborate with translational and clinical scientists.
- Demonstrated history of teaching, mentorship, and faculty development.
- Experience shaping curricula, fellowships, or professional development programs within pediatric or cardiovascular specialties.
- Passion for cultivating the next generation of academic and clinical leaders in surgery and cardiovascular care.
- Board Certified through the American Board of Thoracic Surgery (ABTS).
- 7-10+ years post-training experience with comprehensive case logs across all STAT categories.
- Eligible for faculty appointment at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine at the Associate or Full Professor level.

JHACH is 259-bed freestanding children‘s teaching hospital. This 10-story hospital includes a 97-bed NICU (one of the largest in the southeast), a 22-bed Cardiovascular ICU, a 28-bed Pediatric ICU, 12 state-of-the- art operating suites, and an obstetrics unit.
The campus is also home to an Outpatient Care Center, 3 Ronald McDonald houses, and a new Research and Education Building that was opened in 2018 to serve as a pediatric innovation center focused on new discoveries and treatments for childhood diseases.
As an academic teaching hospital, medical education is very important to Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital. They are home to two (2) ACGME-accredited residency programs in Pediatrics and Child Neurology. They also have 14 fellowship programs across a cadre of specialties.
