Kaiser Permanente San Diego is a robust, tertiary care orthopedic surgery department delivering the full spectrum of musculoskeletal care to all of San Diego County. With 35 fellowship-trained Orthopedic Surgeons and 3 Primary Care Sports Medicine physicians, KP San Diego is the largest Orthopedics department in SCPMG.
All orthopedic subspecialties are represented, including:
- 7 Sports
- 3 Shoulder/Elbow
- 10 Total Joints
- 8 Hand
- 2 Foot/Ankle
- 3 Primary Care Sports Medicine
- 2 Orthopedic Trauma
- 1 Musculoskeletal Oncology
- 2 Pediatric Orthopedics
KP San Diego is home to the Dale Daniel Orthopedic Sports Surgery Fellowship, where we train two Sports fellows each year. We also frequently have engagement with local Orthopedic Surgery residency programs at both Naval Medical Center San Diego and UC San Diego, who send residents to work in different subspecialties depending on their needs.
Position Highlights:
- On-Call Coverage: Anticipated need for this position is for the overnight call pool, approximately one in 25 days. A PA is first call every day. Overnight call will primarily consist of managing urgent infection-related cases, with the majority of trauma cases being booked to the trauma room
- Sports Team Coverage: Opportunity for involvement with local high school, collegiate, and professional sports team coverage
- Most of the shoulder arthroplasty is done by the Shoulder/Elbow trained surgeons
- Total number of Sports cases/year: ~200-250 cases per surgeon
- OR is ~2 days per week.

Salary range for full-time/part-time openings is $536,575.00 - $729,087.00. Potential premium earnings are up to $80,136.00. Salaries are inclusive of incentives depending on skills and competencies and geographic location. Potential premium earnings are based on location. Annual Salary is determined by longevity with the Group and full time equivalent (FTE) work schedule/effort.
