Opportunity InformationPhysician, Cardiothoracic Surgeon (Oakland, CA)
Sutter West Bay Medical Group (SWBMG) is seeking an experienced Board-Certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon with a minimum of five years of post-training experience to join its established cardiothoracic surgery program at Alta Bates Summit Medical Center, Summit Campus, in Oakland, California.
Practice Highlights
- Established regional referral center serving the East Bay and Northern California
- Collegial and collaborative practice environment with strong multidisciplinary partnerships
- Approximately 50% adult cardiac surgery and 50% thoracic surgery
- 1:3 call schedule
- Physician-owned and physician-led medical group with the operational and administrative support of Sutter Health
- Opportunities to participate in teaching, research, quality improvement, and program development
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive cardiothoracic surgical care across adult cardiac and thoracic surgery (50% adult cardiac surgery and 50% thoracic surgery)
- Perform coronary artery bypass grafting, valve surgery, complex aortic procedures, and lung surgery
- Manage acute and chronic aortic syndromes, including aortic dissections
- Collaborate closely with interventional cardiology, advanced heart failure, structural heart, cardiovascular imaging, and pulmonology teams

Qualifications
- Current Board Certification by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery required
- Minimum five years of post-training experience
- Expertise in adult cardiac surgery, including coronary, valvular, and aortic procedures
- Expertise in thoracic surgery, including lung resection and general thoracic procedures
- Commitment to collaborative, patient-centered care within a multidisciplinary team
